Ribfest 2025 at Headwaters Park – Rain, Shine, and Rocks BBQ

Ribfest 2025 was one for the books—and not just because of the barbecue. This was my third year at Headwaters Park, and while the weather tried its best to play spoiler, we still managed to fire up the flavor.

Thursday kicked things off with rain that had me questioning if I should’ve packed flippers instead of tongs. Friday turned cold enough that folks were warming their hands over the smokers, not just the ribs. Saturday? Hot, sticky, and the kind of muggy that makes you feel like you’re marinating right along with the meat. Finally, Sunday rolled around with picture-perfect weather… but the crowd never quite matched years past. Maybe everyone was still drying out from Thursday.

A New Look, Same Bold Flavor

This year was extra special because it marked the official introduction of the Rocks BBQ brand. After years of running with Smoked Q, Ribfest 2025 was the big reveal of our fresh labels and sharp new look.

Our original lineup—Anytime Seasoning, Coffee Rub, and Hey Boo! Honey Rub—was front and center, rocking new labels that grabbed attention while keeping the same handcrafted flavors people have loved from the start. It felt good seeing people recognize the blends but get excited about the new branding. “Same flavor, new swagger” was pretty much the theme of the weekend.

Weathering the Ribfest Storm

What stuck with me most wasn’t just the weather whiplash—it was the people who showed up anyway. From die-hard BBQ fans braving the rain with ponchos, to bundled-up families grabbing racks on Friday, to the sweaty Saturday crowd who weren’t about to let humidity stop them from getting their rib fix—those are my kind of people.

Sunday’s calmer vibe gave me time to really connect with customers, swap a few stories, and introduce more folks to Rocks BBQ. It wasn’t the busiest Ribfest crowd I’ve ever seen, but it was still full of the kind of energy that makes this festival worth showing up for year after year.

Looking Ahead

Three years in, Ribfest feels like a summer tradition I can’t wait to keep alive—no matter what Mother Nature throws at us. Rolling out Rocks BBQ here, in front of longtime fans and new faces, felt like the right way to launch the next chapter of this journey.

So here’s to next year—hopefully with less rain gear, fewer goosebumps, and a whole lot more ribs.
