  • Pro tips to get that perfect balance of flavor

Let’s get started!

Why Make the Bar Down Mojito Cocktail?

This isn’t your average mojito. The Bar Down Mojito takes the classic mint-and-lime combo and adds a bit more punch, making it a drink that works for casual sipping or party-centerpiece status.

  • Refreshing & Versatile – Works for hot summer afternoons, hockey watch parties, or just winding down after a long day.
  • Crowd Pleaser – Its balanced flavor appeals to rum lovers and casual cocktail drinkers alike.
  • Easy to Customize – Add fruit twists, different rum types, or adjust sweetness to your taste.

Ingredients for the Bar Down Mojito

Liquor:

  • 3 oz Pink Whitney Lemonade Flavored Vodka

Produce:

  • 8–10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges

Mixers & Sweeteners:

  • 1 oz Traeger simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
  • 6 oz Liquid Death Sparkling Water (to top)

Garnish:

  • Extra mint sprig
  • Lime wheel

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep the Mint and Lime – 2 minutes

  • Place mint leaves and lime wedges into a sturdy glass.
  • Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press and release oils from the mint and juice from the lime. Don’t shred the mint — you just want to bruise it.

2. Add Pink Whitney Vodka and Traeger simple syrup – 1 minute

  • Pour in the Pink Whitney Vodka.
  • Add Traeger simple syrup and stir gently to combine.

3. Ice It Up – 1 minute

  • Fill the glass with ice cubes — crushed ice works great for an extra-chilled drink.

4. Top and Garnish – 1 minute

  • Top with Liquid Death Sparkling Water to your preferred strength.
  • Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and lime wheel.

Key Steps Summary

  • Muddle mint and lime
  • Add vodka and simple syrup
  • Fill with ice
  • Top with sparkling water and garnish

Pro Tips

  1. Use Fresh Mint – Old or wilted mint will make the drink taste flat.
  2. Crushed Ice Wins – Helps blend flavors and keeps it cold without diluting too quickly.
  3. Don’t Over-Muddle – Too much pressure on mint leaves makes them bitter.

Common Questions

Q: Can I use rum instead of vodka?
A: Yes, but it’ll give the drink a deeper, spicier flavor using dark rum. White rum keeps it crisp and light.

Q: What’s the best way to make it for a crowd?
A: Multiply the recipe and mix in a pitcher. Add soda just before serving to keep the fizz.

Q: Can I skip the simple syrup?
A: You can, but you’ll lose some balance. Use honey or agave for a different sweetness profile.

Q: What food pairs well with a Bar Down Mojito?
A: Grilled chicken, shrimp skewers, or pulled pork sliders are perfect.

Final Thoughts

The Bar Down Mojito Cocktail is proof that simple ingredients can deliver big flavor. Whether you’re sipping it at a backyard BBQ, mixing a batch for game day, or just craving something fresh, this drink is as easy to make as it is to love.

Learn a little more

While our Bar Down Mojito drink isn’t your standard “mojito” we used it as an inspiration to create a delicious poolside drink. But if you are looking for a true mojito, what is that?
A mojito is a refreshing cocktail that typically consists of white rum, fresh mint leaves, lime juice, simple syrup, and soda water.  The combination of sweet and sour flavors and the bubbliness of the soda water creates a tangy and refreshing drink.  Adding mint leaves offers a fresh, herbal note and also contributes to its bright green color.
To create our Bar Down Mojito we’ve substituted run with Pink Whitney Lemonade Flavored Vodka. It was created by New Amsterdam Vodka and gets its namesake from Ryan Whitney – a former NHL defenseman.  It has become a popular drink due to its unique and refreshing taste, coupled with great marketing. The vodka is smooth and easy to drink, making it a popular choice for social gatherings, sporting events – like golf – and pool parties. It can be served on its own or mixed with other drinks to create a variety of cocktails.
